A Celebration Overture for Chorus and Large Orchestra

The Overture (originally titled the 1984 Overture) was completed in January 1984, and was commissioned by Festival Fairbanks '84 (a group organizing activities celebrating the 25th anniversary of Alaskan statehood).

The piece world premiered on April 29, 1984, at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. It was performed by the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gordon Wright.
